7.1.13 viewer has changed the filenames of photo's saved to disk

Take a photo , choose save to disk and then use save As and enter the name 'Test'
What I expected to see - a filename generated like Test_001, subsequent photos would be Test_002 , etc.
What I see is Test_2025-04-19_18014401 , which seems to be a date/timestamp.
I do not want my choice of filename overridden like this, but I can find no preference or debug setting to disable the insertion of the date and time.

This is now an option in Firestorm (as of builds from 24th April 2025). I will leave the timestamps as enabled by default but recognise that for most photographers the sequence number is far more important than an arbitrary timestamp.
Note that the reason that the sequence number no longer increments is because the sequence is really just a uniqueness token. As such if you can manage to take two snapshots in the same second you will get 01 and 02.
The sequence has been restored to 3 digits in FS because when timestamps are disabled and normal sequence based collation is used, sets of more than 100 are not uncommon.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the new filename format for saved snapshots. We understand that the change to timestamp-based filenames (e.g.,
Test_2025-04-19_18014401.jpg
) may be frustrating if you preferred the old sequential numbering (e.g., Test_001.jpg
).This update was made intentionally to improve clarity and organization, especially when handling large numbers of snapshots taken across sessions. Timestamped filenames offer a clearer record of when each image was captured and also improve consistency with other snapshot types, like 360° images.
We recognize that this doesn’t meet every workflow preference, and while there isn’t currently an option to revert to the old behavior or customize the naming scheme, we’ve noted your concerns internally for future consideration.

I looked for a way to automate stripping out the datetimestamp and renaming the file in a batch way using regular expressions and I found one (I use a tool called fileutils on my mac, its a service in finder), only to realise that the 2 digit sequence number after the timestamp is always 01. So the likelihood of name clashes is high.
This really was an ill considered change. The sequence enumber should be incremented after each photo, as it was previously.

As I said in the other Canny, this produces clumsy and occasionally downright misleading filenames. BAD idea

Agreed - please can we have the option to turn off the new long filename. I.e have it as an option. Frustrating to have this forced when the previous simpler increment was perfectly fine for many users. Thanks

it has been pointed out to me that this was a feature request, by SIgnal Linden no less, which somehow escaped my notice. I would like this to have been implemented as an option, that I can disable
