maps.secondlife.com grid coordinate to name lookup broken
in progress
Jerrod Diavolo
Visit maps.secondlife.com open the browser console and observe the errors about invalid capabilities when clicking the map, also observe the missing popup to teleport to the clicked location.
It seems both the name->position and position->name lookup capabilities were recently removed, presumably as part of php2shell mitigation efforts (I was also using those in a map rendering tool for cruises)?

Juniper Linden This https://feedback.secondlife.com/server-bugs/p/map-api-failures-coords-region-name-region-name-coords has more people following it and until now our tickets were merged into it, and these are essentially the same issues. Can you merge them again so it would be easier to track the entire issue around PHP-related map and map API function loss?

Hello,
While the root cause might be the same, the reason for these being separate is because they will be fixed by different teams in different ways. As such I can put the maps region ticket "in progress" but cannot comment on the API solution and its ETA.
We will keep this ticket updated as maps.secondlife.com is fixed.

Maps.secondlife.com Clickiness Broken
AlettaMondragon Resident
At https://maps.secondlife.com/ normally you can click on any map tile and it will place a pin with the region's name and the pin's SLURL enclosed in a Teleport button. Since Wednesday, October 21, you can only place pins on the map from the Destination Guide sidebar or if you use a known SLURL to open the map. If you click anywhere else, nothing happens.
This breaks functionality in interactive maps that use maps.secondlife.com since clicking on those maps does nothing now either.
I tested this with different devices and browsers, placing pins by clicking on map tiles fails consistently with Firefox, Edge and Chrome.

The functionality loss might very well be the result of this:
"PHP released their open-source software patch
Wednesday, October 21, 2026
. Additional software vendors may also publish patches once they are available. It’s imperative to closely monitor these updates."
