Viewer Bug Reports

I've been experiencing an issue across a few of my creations, but this one in particular seems to be the worst. (I say this because I'm mostly a platform and store hermit, so I’ve only encountered this issue on my own parcel and once during a content creator group meeting, where my clothing had the same problem.) The issue occurs at random. Yesterday, I reached out to the community on Facebook and Discord, and it seems others are experiencing the same thing. Someone suggested clearing the cache, which did help temporarily. However, when I returned to take some screenshots, the issue reappeared. The problem happens on both Firestorm and Alchemy viewers. Sometimes it resolves itself, but when the main face becomes completely distorted, the only solution seems to be relogging. When the issue is minor - such as a slight blur on the "metal" material - it usually corrects itself. However, when the main area is affected, it doesn't recover on its own. I don’t believe this is an issue with the mesh itself, as I haven’t received any feedback from customers regarding similar problems. That said, I can’t be entirely sure. For reference, the main area affected has 2,755 vertices. I’m attaching screenshots to show how the item should look versus the slight blur on the metal material and the main issue occurring on the primary material. This has been a persistent and frustrating problem, and it seems to be getting worse lately. I’m unsure what steps I can take on my end to mitigate it. Rez default cube. While the object is still selected for editing, drag a texture from the inventory, onto one face of the cube. Instant crash to desktop. Tried with multiple textures, different prim shapes, linked prim sets, on a private region, as well as the mainland, even at a sandbox. When I log back in after one of these crashes the object does have the texture on it that I was attempting to apply. If I stop editing the object, but do the same drag texture onto it from the inventory, everything works as expected and there is no crash. If I keep the object selected for editing, and go through the texture tab to select the texture from the inventory, everything works as expected and the texture is applied without crashing.

Since I downloaded Second Life version 7.1.11.12150664210 for Mac, my inventory does not update, usually after a first teleport: items worn are not appearing in bold items deleted are not appearing to have moved in the trash new items don't always appear Logging out, then back in, updates the inventory to reflect what was done before logging out.

I have an 8 core Intel i7-9700K CPU, 32 GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPU. Not a bad PC setup. Sure, a few years old, but still good. I can play loads of games on Ultra, do my 3D mesh building and Photoshop editing, and make and upload videos with ease. SL up to now has been fine, using Firestorm. I tried the new LL viewer over the past couple weeks, and installed the new Firestorm view yesterday. I have turned off mirrors, and set the graphics to the lowest possible settings. My PC has crashed 3 times, and when it is not crashing, the GPU is running so hot I can cook my fried eggs and bacon on it. When SL is open, the fans all ramp up to max even on these low graphics settings. This is nuts.

Right-clicked a folder from My Inventory to Delete it. The folder appeared to stay in place, but right-clicking it again shows the usual Trash actions of Purge and Restore. A relog did display the moved items in the Trash. Unsure if this is due to the viewer or some slow performance during my session. Odd enough to report it though! :-)

Reproduces on the develop branch and on ExtraFPS on Linux and Windows. I have been able to repro fairly consistently by starting at (wait until all textures have loaded): http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/May%20Queen/141/50/53 , teleport to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nutmeg%20Mainstore/68/123/21 OR https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Anthem/134/129/1107(again, wait until all textures have loaded), and then teleport back to the starting location http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/May%20Queen/141/50/53 . Notice that although the memory pressure has been relieved, and the viewer seems recognize as such (Est. Free in texture console) , the bias value does not drop (or, does not drop in a reasonable timeframe, as in this particular test the bias value did eventually drop over the course of about 10 minutes back to 1.0) to allow the viewer to use more VRAM. Graphics preferences at default for WIndows 11/GTX1080 except draw distance at 128m, no limit on avatar complexity, maximum object detail. Go to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nautilus%20-%20Elissa/145/36/26 and face the canal gates (see picture). Turn on the texture dashboard with Shift-Ctrl-3 Observe that the bias remains in the range 1.9 to 2.0. It will slowly decrease then something pushes it back over 2.0 again. The grey wall texture on the building to the right should be a PBR brick wall. There were 7 agents on the sim, zero adjacent, none in the field of view. It's notable that the texture console never settles down having fetched everything it needs - it's continuously fetching textures rather than getting in control of the scene.

This is more a description of my troubleshooting efforts. IM logs between Magnus (Lodin333 Resident) attached with his permission. Note that I have also filed a trouble ticket (#2284832), and will update it with this JIRA reference. Magnus IMd me this morning to request a new group role. The group is "Horsegirls of Second Life" (group UUID 2e54b0bf-6ae3-b6fb-c6c8-c4d369cf26fd). I created this group and am the only person with the owner role in the group. At present the group is set to allow membership to be visible to all, including non-group members. I was logged in using the Firestorm 7.1.11.76946 viewer at the time. I pulled up the membership list on the General tab and did not see him in it. I then went to the Members & Roles tab, clicked on the "Members" sub-tab, and typed his name into the search bar, and got "No match." I asked him to take a screenshot of the group profile with his membership role, etc. and send it to me, but he didn't know how to take a screenshot, so I sent a group notice and asked him if he received it. He confirmed he received it by cut-n-pasting the text of the notice back to me in IM. My Firestorm viewer settings are to echo notices to the group chat, which I had open, and I confirmed that way that the notice had indeed gone out to the group. For reference, the notice was sent at 09:51:56 SLT, the title was ""Test notice", text was "This is a test notice for Magnus (Lodin333 Resident) to see if his group membership is working properly." At this point I wanted to see if it could possibly be viewer-related, so I logged off, went to the SecondLife website and downloaded the most current version of the official viewer (SecondLife Viewer 7.1.10.10800445603 - DeltaFPS), installed it, and logged in to resume communication with Magnus. Again, I opened the group profile and looked through the members listed on the General tab; I did not see his name. I went to the "Roles & Members" tab, opened the Members sub-tab, and entered his display name, then his account name in the search bar, and got "No match" as a result each time. I then repeated the notices technique; he received the second notice and echoed the text back to me. For reference, the second notice was sent at 10:06 SLT; the title was "Test notice #2", text was "This is for Magnus again and this is test notice #2." Both notices are available in the group notice history To close, I have noted similar behaviour in other groups of which I'm a member, including 4 in which I am an officer, with most of the group powers assigned. However I don't know for certain what some of those groups' settings might be as I am not the owner nor did I create them. Since I am also experiencing this problem in a group I created and own, I felt this was the best one to use for a JIRA bug report.

Expected behavior is that whenever you resize the mesh, and uncheck the "stretch textures", the texture will be tiled. In this case I'm using the same mesh so the behavior should be the same regarding the direction to which the texture becomes tileable.
